♪ BGM: The Other Side of Memories
"You sing beautifully."
Lyner!?
"Do you sing like this often?"
...I'm not that good at singing, so I have to practice...
"You're being too hard on yourself. You were great."
You don't have to lie to me... My Songs don't help anybody. I'm not like Claire... People need her... And I always get in the way... I'm nothing but trouble.
"... So you and Miss Claire grew up together?"
...Yes. Unlike me, Claire can do anything she wants. Just like the concert today... People can count on her when they need her. I joined the Church and tried my best to become a candidate for the Holy Maidens. But, as a Class-D Reyvateil, I couldn't even find a partner. So when the Bishop ordered me to join the Singing Hill mission, it made me so happy. I actually felt like someone needed me.
"But I do need you, Aurica. At the Singing Hill, when I was about to fall...you saved me with your Song Magic."
...
"Don't act like this. You never got in my way..."
...Why are you so nice to me?
"... Huh? Me? Nice? ...I'm just a normal guy..."
No, you are...
"..."
...You're really kind.
[A.) Action / The Church of Salvation:
♪ BGM: Pulse ~Elemia Arrange~
Aurica found out at some point that there was a church in Mayfield, and that their main day of doing things was on Sunday. Curiously, she decides to get dressed and head there on the first Sunday she's here. Unfortunately, it seems she missed the Mass already, not that she knows what that's about. After admiring both the exterior and interior for a little, she'll move to sit on one of the pews and rest her head on her thumbs, both hands clasped in some manner of prayer.
Though, if she's not doing that, chances are she'll be checking out the whole place, observing with wonderment. Or maybe just sitting on the steps outside.]

♪ BGM: Malta Living
"Uhm..what kind of religion do you have back where you're from?"]
[C.) Action / Outside & Inside 458 Stone Street:
She'll be outside in her usual Mayfield attire, or indoors doing some housework. She'll then close her eyes and begin to sing in a hushed sort of voice:
Amakami o, kakemau, tama sasayaki yueba,
(If the spiritual murmurings that soar through the heavens were connected,)
Kanmuribi furimichite, nanihito yuki orinase;
(the crown of fire would completely descend and interweave the happiness of everyone;)
Samidare no, aimi o, tada nagaruru koe wa,
(The voice that merely drifts in the indigo sea of an early summer rain,)
Utsuroi sakanagi o~boroge na furusato no ne;
(is the changing, reversed, and faint sound of your birthplace;)
Kanade narifuku gaia, sora ni hibiki ainaseba
(If the gaias that we are playing resonated together in the skies,)
Tobekaku, inori no uta matoite;
(they would be clad in the soaring song of a prayer;)
Yasuragi no oka, namida no garasu, kioku no hako omoi no hi,
(The hill of peace, the glass of tears, the box of memories, the monument of feelings,)
Hitoe ikue no, utsurou kiito, tamashii no ne musubitsunagu;
(the single and multiple blank silk threads that tie and connect the roots of the souls;)
Tayutau, mu no umi, shourei no kazaiki,
(The swaying ocean of nothingness, the breath of wind of the spirits,)
Tokeyuu, mandara ni, utai no miko are.
(The dissolving and tying mandala, and in there, the singing priestesses.)After that, she'll either go back to whatever she was doing or sing something else. Unless of course she's interrupted or otherwise distracted.]

Where we come from, Aurica, most people worship "The Holy Light". But... you go ahead, Gat.

Does it have to do with "The Holy Light"?

[Gat rubs the back of his neck.]
I ain't normally human, Aurica. Where I'm from, I'm an android. A CAST.
More specifically, I was built on a planet called Coral, as a military android. So—religion wasn't somethin' I gave a lotta thought about. Wasn't part of what I was made to do.
[He looks down for a second, then back up to the former reyvateil.]
Definitely seen a lot in my life to make me wonder about it now, but I couldn't tell ya much about Coralian beliefs.
no subject
I'm the same as Gat, Aurica. A military android. Different make, but same general idea. There wasn't much encouragement to be concerned about religion, so I didn't concern myself with it.
[She turns her eyes upwards, thinking for a moment.]
It wasn't until I got to Gurhal that I even gave it any thought. It wasn't until I got there that anyone cared to talk about it with me. Gat? That your experience?

Hmm, that's a new face, and there's something about it that already reflected emotion and life. In other words, the girl there is not a drone.
...
Ah, that's true too, isn't it?
Well, she'll just continue to leisurely pace her way to the altar. Her boots do make a noise on the floor, which should indicate to Aurica that someone else is here. That girl is praying though, which is the main reason why Ciel's decided to not speak to her. At least, not yet. It'd be disrespectful, to disrupt one's prayers.]

He's off on Sundays, and today the idea struck him to check it out.
It's all strange and entirely unfamiliar. He was locked up before the Christian missionaries came into the old gods' territory, so he's seen none of this before. He's standing outside staring up at the steeple, not paying much attention to the girl on the steps yet.

Hello, did you come here to pray at the church? [She had already begun to think about asking people about their religion from their own world, but this was the best way she could come up with a question in greeting an unfamiliar face for now.]
no subject
At her question, he laughs.]
Me? Oh, no. A god doesn't pray to himself, it's quite a roundabout and inconvenient way of doing things. Like asking yourself for a favor.
...though sacrificing oneself to oneself isn't unheard-of. But I never went in for that sort of thing.

[The laundry hanged on the wire like a metal rainbow of colors, Aurica having finished her work. The parents were out for the moment, leaving her by herself in their backyard. A small smile showed on her otherwise melancholy face.]
Lyner... I got better. I got better for you, because of you.
[Holding a hand outstretched in front of her, she closed her eyes and hummed. A breeze passed by, the wind rumoring the coming of fall in its slight chill and force. It was this that let Aurica decide on what she wanted to sing next.
Her eyes snapped open, expression serious.]
Was ki ga...
[The note in her voice was sustained until she finally ran out of breath. No power felt created in her, no vibration. The breeze bit at her bare nape, reminding her again that she was just a normal human being now, as she felt at it with both hands.
... Of course. Even if somehow the tower could hear me, it wouldn't matter.
The previous life, her adventure, was beginning to feel like it was just a dream, a memory she had imagined. All Aurica had to keep herself going now was the feelings of those times, and the emotions she felt through those stuck with her here. Maybe it was better this way; she knew too well she wouldn't have long left to live were she were still a Reyvateil. Maybe another twenty years if she was lucky.
She looked up towards the sky, imagining the tower off in the distance, always somewhere in her view in the past. Still, I miss it too much to forget. As long as I remember, I'll never forget you.]
... I'll always want to see you again.
[Imagining the tower, and the times she once shared with the people there, most of all the person who had broken through her once-cold shell.]
